Slow Cooker Salisbury Steak

This recipe was easy to make and takes about half the time that other slow cooker recipes do.
You can cut the recipe in half if necessary just use half of the dry onion soup mix and 1/2 of the au jus if you're watching salt content.  Great for a fall evening meal.

Slow Cooker Salisbury Steak

2 lbs. lean ground beef
1 (1 oz.) envelope dry onion soup mix
1/2 cup Italian seasoned bread crumbs  (Winco had a generic bread crumb container for less than $1.or you can make your own quickly in a food processor.)
1/4 cup milk
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
2 Tbsp. olive oil
2 (10.75 oz.) cans condensed cream of chicken soup (you could also use cream of mushroom if you prefer the taste.)
1 (1 oz.) packet dry au jus mix
3/4 cup water

Directions:

In large bowl, mix together ground beef, onion soup mix, bread crumbs and milk.  Using your hands shape into 8 patties.

Heat oil in a large skillet over med-high heat.  Dredge patties in flour just to coat.  Quickly brown on both sides in hot skillet.

Place browned patties into slow cooker stacking alternately to leave some spaces between the patties for thorough cooking and gravy.

In medium bowl, mix together the cream of chicken soup, au jus mix and water.

Pour over meat.

Cook on low setting for 4 to 5 hours, until ground beef is done.

Serve over mashed potatoes, noodles or rice.
