Homemade Root Beer
During a shopping trip to a giant supermarket, I discovered root beer concentrate in the baking aisle. I had to give home made root beer a try. Armed with the concentrate and the internet, I discovered a very easy how-to make root beer that was posted by a professor of biology and chemistry. Here's the linkhttp://biology.clc.uc.edu/fankhauser/Cheese/ROOTBEER_Jn0.htm
We taste tested our first batch yesterday and it was a hit with everyone. I did note the discussion regarding alcohol content and we limit how much of this home made brew we drink. While the alcohol content is slight, it is made with real sugar and we're also considering the calories and effect on blood sugar.
The finished product is cloudy and a pale brown. There is also some sediment in the bottle when it's first mixed and there was some there several days later when we tasted it.
