Homemade Rice Mix
This is a very basic homemade version of a seasoned rice mix. It's not as tasty as the box mixes but you can adjust the sodium, etc. more easily and it has great room for potential.
1/2 cup broken spaghetti
1 1/3 cup white rice
1 to 2 Tbsp. butter, melted
1 Tbsp. dried onion flakes
1/2 tsp. onion powder
1/2 tsp. garlic powder
1 Tbsp. parsley flakes
2 tsp. chicken bouillon, instant
1/2 tsp. thyme
3 cups water
Break spaghetti into approx. 1/2" lengths.
Brown spaghetti and rice in 1 to 2 Tbsp. melted butter on medium heat.
Once golden brown, add water and seasonings (the remaining ingredients.)
Bring to a boil and then reduce heat to a simmer, cover and cook for 15 to 20 minutes.
