Rib Rub

We love baby back ribs. We'll have them again this holiday weekend. We use this rub and let it set on the ribs overnight before grilling the next day on indirect heat.

Once the ribs are almost done my husband uses a store-bought barbecue sauce to make them nice and messy. (I need to experiment with home made barbecue sauce. . . maybe something with Jack Daniels in it.)

1 Tbsp. ground cumin
1 Tbsp. chili powder
1 tsp. kosher salt
1 tsp. ground black pepper
1 Tbsp. dried oregano crumbled
1 Tbsp. sugar
2 tsp. garlic powder

Stir all the ingredients together. Pat the rub thickly on the ribs
Cover and refrigerate up to 24 hours before grilling on indirect heat.

This may make enough for several batches of ribs so I save what's left in a labeled spice bottle. This is also great on pork chops.
