Slow Cooker Flank Steak

Still have a freezer full of quality meat and a carnivore in the house.  I throw him a proverbial bone still since the way to a man's heart is often through his stomach.

Slow Cooker Flank Steak

1 onion cut into wedges
1 -28-oz can diced tomatoes
1 1/2 tsp. chili powder
1/4 tsp. ground cinnamon
Salt and pepper to taste
1/2 tsp. sugar
1- 1-2 lb. flank steak, cut into pieces.

Serve over rice or potatoes.



We added a homemade steak rub to the meat which boosted the finished dishes flavor. Adjust seasonings accordingly. 

In a 5-to 6- qt. slow cooker, place the can of tomatoes, chili powder, cinnamon, salt, pepper and sugar.
Heat a skillet to med-high heat.  Add a little olive oil and slightly brown the cut flank steak.
Place the flank steak in the slow cooker.
Saute the onion in the same skillet but over medium heat.  Add more olive oil if necessary.
Add onion to the slow cooker.
Cook on low for 7 to 8 hours (This depends on your slow cooker.  Times may vary.)
