Biscuit and Pancake Mix

This is a recipe for biscuit mix that is very much like the store bought.  I mix it and keep it in an airtight container in our extra refrigerator.  It makes biscuit and pancake making easy.

Biscuit and Pancake Mix

6 cups all-purpose flour
3 1/2 Tbsp. baking powder
1 cup instant non-fat dry milk
1 Tbsp. salt
1 cup vegetable shortening

In a large bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, powdered milk and salt; stir until well blended
Using a pastry blender, cut shortening into the dry ingredients until shortening is evenly blended and no lare chunks remain. 

To make biscuits or pancakes, I add liquid usually skim milk, water or plain yogurt until the right consistency.
