Copy Cat Outback Steak

I stumbled across this steak rub a while back. Using the ingredients I had instead of all of the ones listed in the original recipe, we came up with something that tastes a lot like Outback steaks. You can make the rub ahead and even give it as a gift.

When I use it on steak, I rub it on the meat and let the meat "rest" in the refrigerator for 8 to 24 hours before grilling.

1 Tbsp. garlic powder
1 Tbsp. paprika
2 tsp. dried ground thyme
2 tsp. dried ground oregano
1 tsp. ground black pepper
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. ground red pepper

If using a very lean cut of beef, you might want to rub a bit of olive oil on the steaks before the rub.
